Assignment: Write a paragraph telling what you want out of your sixth grade year. You can talk about classes, friends, etc. Stay clear from saying things like, “I want good grades,” and, instead say, “I want a B in math. I have never gotten a B in math. I will do this by…”

Be SURE to tell WHY you want the things that you mention!

    [Reply]

    mrmadden Reply:

    @Lauren R.,

At one point in the story, CD goes to have tea with Capt. Jaggery. During this time, CD has to make a decision about what to tell CJ about Zachariah.

She chooses to tell CJ something about Zachariah which makes it seem very much as if CD actually DOES believe Zachariah’s story about Mr. Cranick and CJ.

Think about what went on in that scene in CJ’s cabin.

    I hope that this helped!

    Mr. M
About the whole playing favorites thing that you said you do not do because it’s not fair I totally agree with you because when Lauren R. and I get off the bus it’s a real long walk so we cut through a lawnand we thought she was really nice because we talk to her an stuff but when we did that she totally freaked out and starts yelling at us and were like dude, calm down. (we did not really say that but I mean really.) But the other kids that get off our stop walk through her yard and she just smiles at them and says “Hi kids,” and we’re like that’s not fair.(we did not say that either we just thought it , but still.) So now we just kind of jump over the corner of the grass into their neighbor’s yard and we don’t even know them and they still let us. Well, to make a long story short (I know it’s a bit late for that.) But i’m glad you do’nt play favorites.

Yes, it is a singular possessive. Just remove the (’s) or (’) from any of the words and the root word is revealed to show if it is a singular or plural noun.

Yes! That is exactly correct. For example, you could have a singular possessive AND a contraction with “Mr. Madden’s” because it is a singular possessive noun (”Mr. Madden’s lunch”) and a possible contraction (Mr. Madden’s gone: Mr. Madden is gone.)

    Mr. Madden,
I have been having a REALLY hard time finding any plural possessive words in my book. I went through the first third of the book and have only find two. I also haven’t had luck finding that page of golden wonders with the four words in a single paragraph (grumble, grumble). Do you possibly have any strategies to finding plural possessive nouns? If you do PLEASE tell me. Bye.

    David,

Don’t knock yourself out. If you cannot find enough, bring in what you did find, the effort is enough.

    Hi Mr.Madden,
On tonight’s homework I am having some trouble finding some plural possessive nouns. Is it all right to use repeats? And can we use names? Please reply soon!

    Raunak,

Keep what you have found so far and bring them in. That is fine.
