One Rule
I have only one rule in my classes. This rule is based entirely upon the notion of respect–respect for your self, and respect for others.
I will treat you with respect so that you know how to treat me.
The One Rule: Feel free to do anything you want in my
classroom as long as it does not cause a problem for anyone else.

Thank you!
Ever since I began using the “One Rule,” students like you have really appreciated it.

it is really cool because you can do anything as long as it doesnt disturb anybody! So I think it is awesome!

Lauren,
Hey! Thanks for your comment!
(And, yes, it is true: Dancing on the ceiling is allowed–as long as it doesn’t cause a problem…)

Debra,
Hm. A challenge.
I like challenges.
Let me think.
As long as listening to music doesn’t cause a problem for anyone in the room (you, listening to music, are in the room, yes?).
Hm. We shall see.
